@hancocktom41 Yeah the threads are still readable. The problem is that I can't exaggerate just how much slower Discourse is compared to so many other forum solutions. It's why I have strong reservations against joining the current forum revival even for my supposed target demographic (Select Button/Insert Credit, 555-5555, [newer furry forum]), because they all use Discourse or some other software that sacrifices performance and compactness for SEO optimization.

@am Sort of put off doing the reflashing and switching to Alpine/PmOS/Adelie or Debian or Fedora.The post was about two very old Dell laptops that had been floating around the family before being shuffled away.Mostly came to the conclusion that alleged durability or design excellence doesn't matter much when so many finicky plastic parts are required to keep it Milspec and Modular and Reliable. Last straw was realizing how ridiculous scissor switches are when it comes to repairing and replacing.

@hancocktom41 Hell, the continued existence of Skullmund's eyesearing styling is proof alone of how much more flexible contemporary PHP forums are when compared to what Discourse offers.I would rather join a Misskey instance than anything using Discourse.

Don't@22lr is the short-lifed sadposting/venting althardyb.neocities.org is the most reliable link to me until Neocities closes or becomes substantially worse. Mostly used for that utility people use Linktree or Carrd pages for. Got a few concepts in a few folders and files.@wheelgun@xmpp.is for the XMPP and/or Jabberheads. Still not sure what to call that region of the internet.HarneyDashBarrow for Backloggd. It's like Letterboxd for games, or Glitchwave with a functioning lists feature.Harney_Barrow on Letterboxd. Don't like using it much but whatever it's decent for bookmarking movies or shows.Harney_Barrow on RateYourMusic. Oldest account when it comes to cataloguing media, and thus the dustiest when it comes to perspective.

@lamp This is why a bunch of mexican houses tend to add pieces to block sliding windows,or just straight up weld steel bars over the glass. Not pretty (though it can be! some very beautiful, well crafted metalwork in spots), but it works.

@coolboymew @lain Tbh this is why XMPP's message carbons is the ideal form because it only begins at around 70 lines earlier, functioning more as short-term memory and not Total Archival. So it switches from contextlessly bursting the door open to gliding into the current conversation and the hour prior.
