@Nonilex I once used a crisis pregnancy center for a pregnancy test which was positive. They seemed incredibly engaged and thrilled to offer me support...until they found out I was married. They thought because I wasn't wearing a ring, I was single. They thanked me for coming in and told me they couldn't provide me with any services.

@futurebird I'm often surprised by how controversial this custom is mostly because we provide Christmas gifts to other professionals in our lives without a second thought. For example, teachers, bureaucrats we deal with often, small business owners we appreciate, our librarians, etc. (I list these because I have served in each role and have received Christmas presents).I've always thought of the gifts as a show of gratitude for caring support rather than a means to supplement poor wages.

@futurebird A lawyer friend of mine once informed me that anyone, anywhere can sue you no matter how carefully you set up to avoid being sued or how diligently you avoid doing things for "legal reasons." He advised, instead, being consistent across policies, following the policies, and paying attention to guidelines provided by licensing organizations. Otherwise, get creative (his words, not mine).

@Nonilex I will NEVER understand how these people believe a girl or woman is not in danger from a man walking into a bathroom, cornering them, and raping them. But, the danger level from a woman assigned as a male at birth is at 100%. The assertion is ridiculous.

@Nonilex N my opinion, it makes it worse for him. She is smiling. She is kind. She is not a threat. The agent vy her window tells her to move on. So she does. The sound we hear shortly thereafter, I'm willing to bet, is not the car hitting him but him shooting her.

@futurebird Thank you very much for sharing. Several years ago I lost 50 lbs after abandoning all "diets." People asked me how I did it. I stressed I absolutley understand how difficult it is and was not being facetious or dismissing when I say, "I ate less." The trick for me was to figure out how to do that within my own comfort and compliance zone. It seems to me to be a much healthier approach than counting calories or fad dieting.

@futurebird I use them all the time. I get why people avoid them. What I don't get are the people who need a typist. And I only slightly understand people who need someone to properly format their docs.
