       This transition from Twitter reminds of September on Usenet. The time of year when all the freshmen in the US discover Usenet and need to be trained on acceptable behaviour. Let’s hope it works out.

       @strypey Yes, I do worry about that somewhat, but I think the fediverse has benefited from that experience, and so far the people coming over from the commerce-verse are grokking it much better than those AOL people did back then.

       @rjme @strypey I dunno, I don’t think that line was patronising. I think it’s an accurate observation. The thing that so many people are not getting is this bit: “If the people who built the fediverse generally sought to protect users, corporate platforms like Twitter seek to control their users”.The big question is how it will all shake out in the end, and only time will answer that one.
