@stux Thanks, Stux, for running a good server. I've heard so many stories of folks having troubles with other servers, I'm happy to have landed on a great one, thanks to you.

Great Albums - 1970s: #GilScottHeron – #PiecesOfAMan (1971). On “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised,” Gil anticipates “The Message” and “Fight the Power” years before anyone had a name for truth poetry over funky jazz. “Lady Day and John Coltrane” grooves like butter, and “Home is Where the Hatred Is” is a junkie screed as stark as Lou Reed with Mayfield swing to get you on side. There’s love and sun songs, too – all you need. #GreatAlbums1970s, #MastodonMusic, #Albums, #Vinyl, #Soul, #Jazz

#GreatAlbums1990s - #MazzyStar – #SoTonightThatIMightSee (1993). Reviving California’s Paisley Underground (guitarist David Roback had been in Rain Parade), Mazzy Star came on like an unholy clash between Crazy Horse and the Velvet Underground (with Nico), slowing everything down to a snail’s crawl. Hope Sandoval’s cowboy waif persona brought a haunting charisma to “Fade into You,” “Wasted” and the band’s ultimate windblown dirge, “Into Dust.” #Albums, #Music, #LP, #Reviews, #Rock, #1990s

@lowqualityfacts Whomever you are, you really should dial down the passive aggressive gaslighting posing as "humour." Nothing you post is funny and I stopped following long ago (Your latest just happened to pop up in someone's repost).

RIP: The great Steve Albini. Recording artist, studio owner, and recording engineer. His name and distinctive sound graced some of the all-time great albums in rock and alternative rock.... Pixies, Slint, Nirvana, the Breeders, PJ Harvey, Urge Overkill, and many more. His outspoken defense of musical integrity and live performance in recording made him a crucial and uncompromising voice in an era of corporate consumerism and corruption in music.https://www.theguardian.com/music/article/2024/may/08/steve-albini-us-alt-rock-musician-and-producer-dies-aged-61#SteveAlbini

#Sparks – Kimono My House (1974). The Mael brothers’ contrasting personas (Russell’s preening pop star against Rob’s rockabilly Hitler) made Sparks stand out against the glam rock pack when their third LP burst onto the scene. Rob’s songs sounded like metallized Kurt Weill as Russell’s operatic falsetto (Marc Bolan on laughing gas?) pierced the airwaves. “This Town Ain’t Big Enough for Both of Us” is just one highlight on this weird but endearing pop classic. #GreatRockAlbums #GreatAlbums1970s
