Many of which are so long-term ingrained in the system that they are almost impossible to break down. Hence the good guys who whistleblow are seen as snitches and victimised for stating the obvious, that too many police jurisdictions are mind bogglingly problematic and racist. Dismantling racist structures is the first but critical step. It requires listening to the victims, detailed understanding of the issues and a political will to purge the evil AND explain to citizens WHY that needs to be done. #policecorruption #racism #firstnations

If you have a law (let's take car lights) and youre pulled over bc a rear light is out, statistically if you are black the likelihood is that you will end up being arrested, but warned if you are white. So is it in black DNA to be criminal? I don't see that. Rant at me if you want, but my white skin will ensure that I'm HIGHLY unlikely to be victimised for a light. Statistically there are far more blacks in jail for possession of small quantities of weed than there are white bankers or advertising execs with cocaine and pills. Work that one out. There is enough distrust of police to indicate a major problem. Misuse of power can be the drug of choice for any officer, of any ethnicity.Wherever it occurs, its a problem that needs excising. Police tend to use that power in poor black towns and districts more than the luxury condos, mansions and churches of leafy Vermont or Maine. So why? Irrespective of whether a state or council or district has black civil servants, its the underlying imprinted attitude towards "nasty black ppl" as opposed to "clean livin Christian whites" that's the problem. That's how racism works and is the result of *centuries* of systematic abuse.

So hopefully we won't see the Bro-mance that was Morrisonđź’•Trump of the previous administration IF Reps get back in. It's hard to predict what'll happen to you guys. True to say the Trump base is solid and will stay so. The question is how many of the rest of US will want to vote Dem, or just not vote at all, and by default let Reps win..I can't see how Biden can possible run again and win. Out of a country of 300+ million ppl, is Biden the best Dems can come up with??

@jhaue I thought this spoke volumes about the rental market. My daughter and son-in-law recently viewed an apartment for sale in Ringwood (Eastern suburbs Melbourne). The sale price was too good to be true and transpires it had dodgy flammable cladding and the balconies on the 2 floors directly above their garden, were in risk of falling off pretty much at any time... Their solicitor strongly advised against buying. Of course. But then what's to stop a loaded-up cash buyer just snapping up a deal and putting in unsuspecting tenants? It means that potentially any company who has a non-bullying OHS policy which supports diversity is potentially under threat from DeSantis state politics. This is a minefield. Today the focus is specifically trans and LGBTQI+ but could go into any/all areas of discrimination once the RW gets revved up. Where does this stop?

@stux Check out these plastic recycled boards and boardwalks. There's also playground equipment and benches made from recycled plastic that's been formed into planks. I recently taught at a school that had bought all its yard benches and communal seating from here. Much tougher than wood.
