is it scalable? No, none of what you're doing is scalable. And if it isn't irrelevant in 10-20 years time then all that will be left is a burden.

Someone could easily "take over fediverse" by offering fediverse lords compensation to become a vassal or give up their fiefs. It's no different to freenode or twitter. Instead of twitter board members there's just lots of little tin pot dictators.

Open source isn't enough. The only reason Element were able to pull off the stunt whereby the two homeservers go under AGPL+CLA is because they have producer control. The matrix-org foundation is entranced in a dependence on Element for the majority of its projects, including the spec. Element doesn't need to explicitly exert its power in those projects by forking and adding CLA (they're not as relevant to winning contracts) but the power relationship is the same. AGPL+CLA controlled by element would absolutely not have been possible if there were significant community contributions to Synapse and Dendrite (that were also not within Element's sphere of influence ala Beeper). But there haven't been any significant community contributions, because time isn't allocated sufficiently within Element to review contributions. Element employees are the only people who have the power to review contributions. Therefore for anyone to even attain the same power of an Element employee would be extremely difficult. You can see why this is bad, and why it would be a negative feedback loop if there was any room left to fall down even more. This ultimately is enabled because current programming languages require software to be written in an incredibly anti modular, and labor intensive way that reflects the top down control exerted by its authors. Calls for better governance (although I am sympathetic) ignore that the conditions that Matrix was created in (and currently exist within) are shit, and it's probably the same for most projects until they are much older and have way more hackers fighting to keep them alive. There is hope for Matrix essentially only because Element has competitors and disgruntled customers. Software, that claims to fight for our rights and give us freedom shouldn't be being produced in the circus of venture capital. We shouldn't need to pray on a tech lord to be our savior and found a company or for existing companies to engage in community interest fronts which really only serve their interests by being a front for free labor and mutual (among capitalists) aid. When they made the term "personal computing" they weren't sat about fantasizing about how tech lords and the new software market could come about and write amazing software for us and liberate us all. It was all about just you and me and they showed us the future that we should have had.

Draupnir is now being supported with a grant from NLnet NGI Zero. I've written up a post with some context, and to describe the goals for the project https://marewolf.me/posts/draupnir/24-nlnet-goals.htmlIf you do have feedback or questions you can reach out to me here or in our matrix room https://matrix.to/#/#draupnir:matrix.org (which is preferred). #Matrix

If you wanna be lazy at coding, and worry about what's important with regards to accidentally doing anything unsafe, then use memory-safe GC'd languages that are designed from the ground up to make programming and your life easier 😋

I love dynamic dispatch, polymorphism, encapsulation, and the uniform access principle. OOP is really the best ^-^💕.

Can't compile your huge monorepo quickly enough? is that really it? How about improving the ecosystem so that people don't think monorepos are the way to go
