There's this place and there's that place but after checking them out, there's no place like Mastodon for carrying on a full-fledged, decent conversation; and then sharing pieces of by boosting, inviting others to come along. All of the tools are here. Enough characters and ways to keep up with folks the way that you want to in your timeline. It's the main difference in my book. Plus there's a cool camaraderie growing.

Three columns are generally open: a Top Follow List, the main Home List, plus another one to fit the mood. @sugaree If one's looking for just another friendlier Twitter, they may be disappointed here.#Mastodon isn't like Twitter at all. It has a very different framework and interface, favoring real community building and more conversation, w it's own kind of feel.There's a rush to #Spoutible now because it maintains something of the old Twitter vibe, and that may work for some people. But there's also the algorithm there favoring the rapid-fire-posting-frantic-vibe which I find exhausting.

I was just informed that adolescent "butt" jokes were "in" in 3rd and 4th grade, but 5th graders have moved beyond it. Good to know.But then why do I still find them funny?

I woke up crying this morning due to the loss of my pooch over a month ago. Waking up crying is a unique kind of experience. We were very close. These things just don't go away over night. I hesitated to post this because it's not flowery; but these are tears born from the joy of our time together - which I will always be thankful for. I'm thankful for these tears, because without them my life would not have been as beautiful.

@TheHardyBoyCats Thanks! What makes me happy is that he had nobody when we picked him up off the street and in the end he had a big family, his place, had found his home and was loved by everyone who met him. He was true Love Dog.

Raccoons gnawed thru our roof again. Must have been recent as we were awakened by an indoor rain storm from last night’s thunder storm. Fortunately a friend of a friend of ours is a roofer and will be here tomorrow morning. Sometimes we trap them and set them free in a big forest nearby. They’re very intelligent and often outsmart the trap, however. I’ve never had one come down thru the hole in the ceiling. What a night that would be! Here’s hoping for a peaceful evening. #Today

#Mastodon is excellent for small groups of people who just want to stay connected, due to outstanding and unmatched control of one's feed.I couldn't care less about celebrity and wanna-be power posters. Frankly, I find them boring.Taking out the trash, doing laundry, gardening, animals and dealing with day to day life issues is supremely much more interesting.
