Finally switched my gaming desktop over to Linux this weekend. The whole Windows 11 "upgrade" thing was getting too bizarre, and my experience with the Steam Deck showed that everything I want to play will work with Proton.And that's the last instance of Windows I have - all my work moved to Mac or Linux years ago. None of my last several roles have been using Microsoft tech.Experience so far has been great. Ubuntu install was perfect, Proton works perfectly, Steam is happy. I'm happy :)

@stux I’m glad for them. I fucking hated school with a passion. Sitting there bored out of my skull rote-learning dry facts that I would never need to know. Exams designed to test recitation of facts and not reasoning or problem-solving abilities. Obedience training and never questioning authority.Our education system is designed to produce compliant factory workers. I hope LLMs kill it.We need an education system designed to actually educate and develop kids. Montessori++.

@boilingsteam it’s not really CachyOs taking over, is it? Arch is still very much in the lead. It’s just that Ubuntu is (rightfully) losing ground.And because SteamOS is not reported as Arch, Arch is actually way *more* popular than reported.

@stux spears please :) lightning fast stabby-stabby while staying out of sword reach :)I did re-enactment combat for years and video games never quite get spears right. They were the most common and popular early medieval weapon for good reasons (not just expense).
