@bortzmeyer I'm not afraid of my code. Only of ever reading it again. Or, oh gosh, using it. Or so. 😀

Soo, the #Debian #FTPMaster host (the one that manages the Debian #Archive) is back. I started a manual run of "unchecked" - which is the first step for packages on their way into the archive, basically. Some of them waiting (356 right now) on our upload-master host, so could be that this run will take a while.Later on all cronjobs will come back, so somewhere in the night the normal #dinstall (prepares an update to the mirror trees, so something users actually see) will run.

@smallsees It's very low traffic on purpose. And yeah, unchecked runs now, has some queue to work through, all the things people put on upload-master.Another 110 still there, before this run is done. Next dinstall will be regular. (And well, little larger push).

How to feel old: Have a visitor (some university student) come by for #keysigning (wants to join #Debian), realize he was born at the time you yourself joined Debian....

Interested how we keep gpg keys safe, even in daily use?FTPMaster uses hardware for it, yubikeys. And right now, the new signing key is put onto one. That yubikey is hard at work, its signature counter is above 3 million now. That is, between Bullseye release on 14th August 2021 and today, the yubikey got a bit over 3 million signatures to issue using the key in the signature key slot. BUT: It had to do more signatures, we can just not say how many - because we use two keys, and so we have the signature key slot AND the authentication key slot in usage. Unfortunately, Yubikeys do not count usage of that authentication key. So the real amount of work this had to do - will be way higher.#Debian #ReleasingDebianBookworm

The good: I found a way into "my infrastructure" that I could use from my phone with JuiceSSH to access a broken server and fix it (without the phone being part of my usual VPN).The bad: I found a way into "my infrastructure" that I could use from my phone with JuiceSSH to access a broken server and fix it (without the phone being part of my usual VPN).

The group photo from this years #DebConf in #India shows nicely, why it is really good that the #Debian conference moves around every year. A *huge* group of Indian people mixed with some small "sprinkles"of "not India" all over.Meh, I so need to manage to get to the next one, finally again.#Israel, then.

Oh suuure, "flatpak is better".I only need 3 to 5 versions of whatever thing that sounds like a central lib.Unlike a real distro, where things (usually) use one of them.

If you are out there happily applying the new #Debian pointrelease - DO NOT REBOOT into the updated #linux #kernel. It contains a serious (and silent) #data #corruption #bug that MAY (not must) affect you.Fixes are in preparation, but builds will take a bit to complete.

The nice: Setting Requires/After in a #systemd services file, to have a service start after the VPN is done, makes this service start after the VPN is done, which means it can bind to its IPs.The bad: Setting Requires/After in a #systemd services file *also* means that, when the VPN goes away (other host is off, for example), the service will be killed every few seconds with a SIGTERM, which is *annoying* until you remember that setup.
