So I got suspended from #mastodon dot #gamedev dot place for telling someone advocating literal #pedophila to go fuck himself? Dipshits, you didn't suspend me, you did me a favor. If that's how that place is run, it's trashhole #admins can go rot in hell themselves.

@jukibom someone posted a systematic review of Richard Stallman outlining his history of pro-pedophilia statements. The entire comment section was nothing but "I support a person's rights to free speech even if they advocate pedophilia" and such posts. Nothing but "technically this is ebophilia in instance X" or "age is a number" or "why should I believe anonymous people who claim to have been abused" or such posts. I rightfully went off. Woke up today to an account ban.

I mean, it makes sense, but if someone didn't know it was your real name, then it wouldn't really matter how long you'd used it, right? @blenderdumbass please use a better term than "free software" because I had an entire post made up explaining how this enables Embrace, Extend, Extinguish, until I realized you meant "open source" which is, uh, whatever. Like presumably you want people to understand what you mean, and "free software" does the EXACT OPPOSITE.

@strypey I know of at least organization running a distro, they have a flat organization. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valve_CorporationSteamOS is pretty locked down out of the box on the steamdeck, making userspace completely wipe with every update, with an embedded restore image in hardware for emergencies. Pushes very hard for flatpak. They are pretty effective at keeping newbies from destroying their install and walling off vulnerable bits, to the point where I installed HoloISO on my nephews gaming pc for him

@strypey Did you read what you just posted? They discontinued the debian-based SteamOS, and now maintain the Arch-based SteamOS. Valve is 100% still maintaining SteamOS, they release updates for it regularly and are making it available to download for non-vendors in the near future. They also monitor HoloISO, which is unofficial SteamOS distro which many of their employees work on.

@musicmatze They've worked in linux for a loooong time. The very first HTPC I built was a mythTV box, and having deep air mouse MCE remote integration was a selling point. I saw a demonstration of a "home of the future" running mythTV using the gyration MCE remote and HAD to build something like it. What a cool machine that was. You could pop a DVD into it and it had a full ten-foot UI for ripping the DVD right from your remote.

@musicmatze For a long while I had an old dell laptop that had some funky wifi problem that linux couldn't get around. This was back around 2012, so quite a while back. I wound up having to use power line adapters in my home to turn my wiring system into a makeshift switch lol.Been using linux as my daily driver since 2000, and today it really is night and day compared to all the times before. But maaaaan there were some growing pains. Still are, in fact. Signed, an RTX 2080 user lol.
