The SFF motherboard was really restrictive so I got rid of it.If this optiplex 9010 works out it may be my new favorite desktop for my paranoid self. Cheap, ME effectively nuked, *almost* ATX standard. My only disappointment is that I was hoping after installing coreboot and a Xeon that I'd be able to use my significant backstock of ECC DDR3 on it, but no dice.You can even shoehorn it into a 1U chassis, which is pretty sweet. I may use that to upgrade my pfsense box.

@duke @bronze some of it is terrible coding, some is overhead for encrypting traffic at acceptable levels. Trying to do TLS 1.3 on even an old P4 kinda sucks.I agree though, except my work computer, my machines are all 7+ years old and adequate for most of my needs. I'm looking forward to rediscovering some of my favorite games on the new desktop I'm playing with.

@duke @rher @Tactical @bronze I recently picked up Uncharted 1-3 for $10. Amazing games, great storytelling, still nice to look at, and made fair use of the PS3/PS4 hardware. I'm not sure you could have the same game on a PS2, and definitely not on anything earlier.Look at later games for the same hardware, though. As soon as they stopped limiting themselves to what would fit on a single disc, that's when the sizes blew up.

@pepemilfenjoyer thanks, that's the one. He makes a lot of good points about them in groups. Certainly supporting any organization that is dedicated to "otherism" is a mistake.I went to REI the other week to buy some socks and they wanted me to round up for charity. I asked what the charity did and it was something like, "help disadvantaged groups like Asians learn to enjoy the outdoors.". Why? Why not just help disadvantaged people in general? It's all BS.
