Yesterday we finally merged the work by Carlos Garnacho for support of tablet pad's buttons directly in GIMP. Basically instead of assigning shortcuts system-wide to a tablet button (then customize shortcuts in GIMP), you can directly assign GIMP actions to specific tablet button.This only works for Wayland so far.Carlos was detailing this work on this blog post: https://blogs.gnome.org/carlosg/2023/06/16/getting-the-best-of-tablet-pads/

@Adam They indeed got in touch a while ago about this. They also had this article about their plug-in: https://game.intel.com/story/intel-arc-graphics-generative-ai-art/And they told us the plug-in was featured in their Intel’s Innovation conference.

@Adam No we've seen this public for months. Intel showed us the Github link on October 3 (date of email when they notified us of its existence) and I believe we have seen people mention this plug-in on social networks even before that.Also their article dates back from September 15.So I'd say it's public at least since September. Possibly earlier than that. 🙂

@vera Every distribution handles their own packages. So yeah, it's Debian which takes care of updating their GIMP package.We only maintain the packages visible on our download page.

Small stats for the fun: GIMP 3.0.4, released 10 days ago, has been downloaded a bit more than 2 million times (only counting platforms where we have stats: our download server, Flathub stats and MS Store stats).The previous version (3.0.2) had been downloaded about 10 million times (again, known numbers only).😚
