@anathema Hard agree. Never use IRL name on social media. My past employer would search for their name and you could be disciplined if you disparaged the company or made them look bad. I got asked one time if I had any socials and I responded “none that you know of” other than LinkedIn, which I seldom use

@foone @munin I’m now past the age of “when was your last period”. Fortunately, my practitioners were people who knew me before I started transitioning, but did get asked that question one time by a new nurse ( she apologized later). The GP practice I go to now is exclusive to trans and gender nonconforming people, so they actually look at the chart to know whom to ask that type of question to

@aral Nation-states are the epitome of the saying “Might makes right”. If a county is powerful enough, yeah, there’s little that can be done to “punish” them. Economic sanctions? Well the OPEC Arab oil embargo worked pretty well in the 1970s, but I don’t feel something like that would happen again. China could theoretically cut off our produced goods and chip supply, but that would affect their economy (and Taiwan, maybe) nearly as bad as it hurt the US
