@Nonilex They arrested the late great John Hume once for challenging the right of the British army to order his peaceful protest to disperse, he won his case but they rushed through a change in the law so the British army would have such powers.

@futurebird we did a training on the dangers of AI that was mandated before they rolled out a basic copilot. It was explained how it really works (and the inherent flaws with AI output), and we went over a lot of other dangers including the studies that show the effects of over reliance on AI (cognitive abilities can decline). It ended with a long list of things we are NOT allowed to use AI for, and a stern reminder that we are personally responsible for all output (AI or not) used in our jobs.

@futurebird I produced 430kWh of solar energy, so net usage is very low. There are 4 in our household and we have an electric car that is also included in usage.

@futurebird @rgo My bf gives me examples of this all the time! Like stuff we were discussing sitting at dinner, then he gets ads for it. Definitely not something we googled. I have Siri switched off, he doesn’t.

@0xabad1dea or with the cloudflare outage today, you need to understand that software ultimately runs on hardware and will crash if it runs out of physical resources to load a config file that has become too big. Probably some engineer did warn of the risks, only a Harvard business grad ignored them.

@futurebird I just do whatever the hell I like with my decor, never been someone who sees the point in fashion. I discovered the previous owner had covered up the beautiful slate floor with oak laminate flooring, so I ripped it all up. People were horrified that I would do this as such a floor is considered unfashionable now, but at least I can feel the under floor heating!
