Huh. Testing some movies, specifically The Usual Suspects, and I just realized my 4K player... has Closed Captions enabled by default.I didn't even know Blurays had Closed Captioning.

@misty @chris Yup, I got the gag. Kinda like how the Matrix is always 10 years old today.But anyway this is one of my earliest released Blurays, and I think a new remaster is already out, but I like the old, early discs too.

Hmmm, not sure if this is a Mastodon bug.I saw a friend's toot get a reply from a nasty account, so I reported the account (which should go to the local admins), and then I blocked the account.I forgot to block the whole domain, so I figured I should check my blocked user list to nab it from there.But my blocklist is empty. Is the blocklist shown there just a local one? I have one local account muted here and they show up just fine.

@rastilin @nkizz @same There's a good chance the people using this are also downloading cracked executables from the internet without even checking if they're safe. If you're not careful, it might be bundled with stuff like cryptomining software or worse.Or all it might take is a USB with a virus on it, Windows sees it and autoruns some code on it and boom, your desktop is compromised.So maybe intentional attacks won't matter. But unintentional ones do.

@nkizz This exploit was found and reported less than two years ago. It's luckily already been patched out. @nkizz I am not smart enough to understand most of what you're saying :DBut I've had to deal with computers getting bricked because someone did a thing they're not supposed to - often times by myself - and when I see warning signs I let people know.I apologize if I sounded preachy or something, I'm bad at writing things online.

Okay folks, I'd like to ask for help in figuring out what the "Making of Messiah Kit" referenced in this ad was.I recently obtained a CD called "Making of Messiah" and it has a bunch of behind the scenes videos, plus other conceptual materials. I haven't found -any information- about it online, other these ads mentioning they could be ordered by mail. Apparently they were bundled in German copies, too.Did you order one? @Joy Not just Steam, but GOG, too. There really wasn't any reason beyond Tim Sweeney being a dick about it. He refused to give any reasons for it, but I suspect it had something to do with it being in bestseller lists on both storefronts during every sale. The bundle that had all games also sold very well on third party stores.He said he was updating UT3 and making it F2P, too. I just hope he doesn't add crypto garbage.

Extremely urgent #Digipres request for SoCal people: I have hundreds of VHS tapes that I need to give to someone for preservation AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. I need to begin the process of moving out as soon as I possibly can and I can't actually mail these to someone, so if you know anyone in SoCal who wouldn't mind going a couple miles into Mexico to pick up and take a couple hundred VHS tapes at no cost, then please get them in touch with me. I had originally hoped that this house would last me six more months but it's become apparent that it is not safe to live in anymore and I need to raise money to move and straighten out the land ownership issues in the meantime.I am not asking for money for those tapes and I am not asking for donations / help. I just don't want these to be lost or destroyed.
