@odbol @kristinHenry if I may jump in, there’s a fundamental difference between a toolkit like Photoshop and word prompt AI images. The current crop of AI art platforms are relying on datasets of images scraped from the web like LAION-5B (5 billion images).It was already on shaky ground when used for research under Fair Use, but now that these platforms have used it to train AI for commercial products, they’ve essentially stolen billions of hours of artists’ labour without consent.

@n1ckfg @kristinHenry @BLatro @odbol - Stable Diffusion knows they messed up with visual art by incl. images without consent. For their new music AI, they said, “All of the models that are officially being released as part of Dance Diffusion are trained on public domain data, Creative Commons-licensed data and data contributed by artists in the community. The method here is opt-in only…” The music industry is more litigious than visual artists. https://tinyurl.com/ep6uyvay
