Next RSH publication, 'Scottish Railway Incidents: Part I - 1900-1903', just about done. @Phooney1's just finishing the illustrations ☺️ It's about 100 pages longer than the 'Treaty of Union Articles' (2019) which covered 2 centuries 😆

Rev. David Macrae... was a Home Ruler and staunch protestor of English centralisation, the use of England/English in place of Britain/British within Scottish school history textbooks and, even worse, within international treaties negotiated by Westminster... It’s with thanks to a very generous donation from a RSH supporter, Adam Baird, I was able to acquire this publication.  I look forward to making a start on its upload to the site.https://randomscottishhistory.com/2020/07/04/book-of-blunders-1883/

Wee gif I made from an illustration of Edinburgh Castle from Grant's 'Old and New Edinburgh' (1880)https://randomscottishhistory.com/2018/03/02/chapter-4-castle-of-edinburgh-continued-pp-26-31/ Cleaned up and cleared of figures on photoshop. Then the flag frames added by hand, scanned, uploaded & made a gif wi a wee phone app ☺️

Lanark's article, from the 'Gazetteer of Scotland' (1847), was far more interesting than I thought it'd be. Thanks goes to @BiscuitErsed's suggestion on Twitter. Well worth the read ☺️https://randomscottishhistory.com/2020/08/06/lanark-pp-206-211/Keep the suggestions coming - getting them uploaded fairly quickly 😁https://randomscottishhistory.com/gazetteer-of-scotland-1847/

RSH Newspaper ResearchThe British Newspaper Archive have provided us with banners for the site - anyone subscribing to them, via RSH, will now be helping maintain the site ☺️I go to them for most research - their search function & filters are really useful to refine your searchings - most recently I was curious about the Flannan Isle Lighthouse mystery and so they were my first port-of-call for more info 😁https://randomscottishhistory.com/newspaper-research/

If you like a good Scottish map, RSH has a dedicated Map Gallery available at DeviantArt all in high resolution which allows you to zoom in and see the page pores 😉 This is one of my favourites, Edinburgh's Royal Mile with an example of a close-up view.https://www.deviantart.com/randomscothistory/gallery/all

It’s been a busy couple of months since my last update. I honesty hadn’t realised it had been so long, – used to be a near daily thing. I’ll try to get the order of events as close as possible to how they occurred chronologically...https://randomscottishhistory.com/2018/08/03/updates/
