       I feel like making code more general-purpose also tends to make it less well-suited to any specific purpose than if it had been tailor made. Is that commonly agreed upon? Or controversial?

       @fribbledom I'm not yet sure whether the greater difficulty of writing Rust code that compiles at all is offset by the time it supposedly saves in finding bugs.

       I understand that having contributed to open source projects is good for a programming resume in a way that no amount of solo work could replace. Is there anything that's, like...commonly recognized as a good place to start with getting into doing open source work?
