@p @test_1111111 My understanding is that Crunk probably knows just how absolutely vitriolic users of the site can be (and sense they come over to this instance, they will act the same). There are people who have been banned, who have come back under a different name, and started causing major issues for the site in the past (many such cases). I think he knows (not speaking for him) that a death threat is not worth bringing the ire of a person, who could know another person looking for a reason, who are now emboldened to cause harm. It's a different animal with this community (from what I've seen). Case in point, a summarized account as I remember it, 9chan (an image board with some pretty cool modern features, it was like 8chan only better) was something Josh spun up... i think around early 2020(?). Now Josh being the guy that he is, has obviously acquired a good amount of enemies, a lot from image boards, and they held a real grudge against him because of stupid bullshit no one cares about. Their solution was to spam the boards with CP, just endless CP. I remember doxxing one of the users and reporting him to Canadian authorities for linking CP from his site (was able to also show from the source code (no longer on github, wonder why) that it was definitely media uploaded by the individual in question) since i absolutely hate any mfer who thinks posting video of an 8 year old being put through that shit is somehow acceptable, on any plain, I hope he's rotting. Anyway, long story short, it couldn't be contained, everytime Josh would sleep, they would start flooding. The site maybe lasted for 2 months with constant DDoS and CP floods. That's the power of jaded chan/ex-KF users, they can literally kill a website in the matter of weeks because they don't like Null and because the site didn't allow loli. That's another good reason to not like loli, outside of it being gross, the people who rage about loli being "legal" are also those conveniently with porn stashes ready to lash out and break US law while cementing their spot in hell. (two birds, one stone). So to return to the point of all this, the site and it's administration are aware they have enemies, and don't want to ban people who might be obsessive/insane; since while 9chan was a landmark example of what can happen when users are told "no you can't do that". The sites been hacked, large denial of service attacks from several sources (maybe bad actors/ex users), but no one knows who, the works.> as I have said, most of the people on KF are fine, a lot of really cool people, but there are some people there that are fucked up in ways that other instances don't approach.That's in my mind, the result of the afformentioned culture; we just have such a fucked up user base of people, and since anything pretty much goes outside of breaking US law, and loli, the fact that Josh previously worked on 8chan with Fredrick (so there's your association with chan culture). It makes sense that this website (and by extension the fedi instance) would be subject to those users presuppositions about the site and what it allows. I grew up on image boards and forums; I've been banned so many times from forums that half of my teenage online social interactions where on chans because that was the only place that wouldn't ban me. But on the other hand i know that outside of the lies and all that shite they are either a person who is genuinely the spawn of Satan, or they should be pitied and need help. People are just the culmination of their experiences, and I see attempts to extort and the like to be that of a hurting individual or someone truly evil. When you come from a community that is so unfriendly, has some of the worst and most morally depraved individuals who are willing to talk online, you will inevitably start learning ways to defend yourself and use others, since in communities like that, people lose their souls eventually. Though I don't want them (the shitty people who need help) to leave; I want them to calm down; I think if they leave and isolate themselves in closed-door communities, I don't think they'll have a chance at being normal, or at least healthy (most of these people really don't have healthy IRL relationships). There is a limit to what you can tolerate from a "friend"; as you brought up, about when it's ok to never talk to someone again, the "bridge too far" in any relationship. I would say that the thing that happened to Claire is a "bridge too far" but idk who did it, and I don't think I know them. I know certain individuals were thought to be involved but I haven't seen any evidence of their involvement (maybe I missed it, because I was offline during the aftermath), and hearsay isn't enough for me to completely cut ties with someone.I don't know who was doing the shit to Claire, I didn't even think that was an us thing?
