       @RaspIt's a nice, empowering-sounding statement, but almost no one really believes they can *actually* do that.I mean, what does it actually mean? How would that work? Get in your VW Beetle and drive over to some rich person's house ... and what? Knock on the security gate? Break in and take their stuff? Literally catch one, kill them and eat them?What does it mean?

       @lowqualityfactsDisappointed. It's going slower than I expected.Obv didn't expect to hit 10B overnight, but I figured we'd at least have a few 100M by now.

       @lowqualityfactsSo when can we buy that shirt?You know the one about the frog halfway down the stork's throat, choking the stork so it can't finish swallowing him? With the punchline "never give up"?Something like that for the graphics, but with your message, would be especially popular, at least with me.

       @adamLooks like Jupiter grew genitals. At first, it looked decent, but that was just the bottom 1/3rd, before I opened the full image.

       @lowqualityfactsDude(-tte?), you've got 26k followers. That's borderline rockstar level here. Don't change a thing.(If you're fielding suggestions, though, I am still semi-seriously interested in that frog t-shirt)

       Why don't the world leaders seem to take the #ClimateCrisis more seriously?Daily, more and more regular people are realizing that our "window" to gradually transition away from #FossilFuel|s closed, long ago, and that we must stop burning them NOW, must stop sucking them out of the ground NOW.And yet, our leaders—including many quite progressive ones—keep right on planning this slow-motion, decades-long, someday-switch.Why?IDK actually know ... I'm just another regular person, watching it unfold.However ... 1/2

       I look to #GameTheory .Quitting #FossilFuels right now would, in fact, be bad for the global economy. Just think, eg, of all the people still paying off loans on their ICE-cars, who wake up tomorrow to find that gasoline is no longer available at any price, and their cars are now less than worthless? And a thousand similar wrenching changes to people and businesses.But that's actually the best-case, if the whole world quits together.What if just Germany quits, unilaterally? Or Canada? Or even the US?Then that country's economy crashes alone, and the rest of the world reaps a benefit, because fossil fuel prices would actually go down, thanks to the decrease in demand.Every leader on Earth has been aware of this conundrum, one way or another, for 40+ years. Every leader keeps waiting for someone else to take the plunge first.And we lemmings march on.

       Yet another corporate-led #FOSS project getting screwed by the company that is supposed to be taking care of it.If you or your business uses it, and if you care about such things (and I hope you do) ... time to quit using #Terraform and switch over to #OpenTF ( https://openTF.org/ ).The parent corp changed the project license from a FOSS license to a more profit-friendly business license. Of course, it was promptly forked by FOSS folk to maintain a free and open version.https://m.slashdot.org/story/418538"Our view is that we're actually not the fork ... the fork is actually HashiCorp that has forked its own projects under a different license."

       @neilYes and no. Mostly yes ... FOSS devs owe me nothing, and I'm (generally) grateful for whatever they do share.That said, though, anyone who releases a project under an Open license, but chooses to do the support/documentation on a closed, corporate platform like Discord ... that's a red flag for me. Maybe I don't need that project in my life?

       The Problem with Trolley Car ProblemsI started out saying this as a joke, but gradually, over time, I've come to realize it's actually accurate.The true solution to almost all "trolley car" problems is to find who keeps tying people to the tracks.In trolley car problems, the people tied to the tracks always represent some disadvantaged sector of society — poor people, homeless people, no healthcare, minorites, etc — or even just (pardon the expression) "regular" lower class people.And the "problem" is always "do you let those people be run over in order to save a billionaire, or a corporation, or the banking industry, or some sector of the economy, etc.And again ... why are those people tied to the tracks in the first place? What is wrong with our economy/society/legal system, that we have those people stuck in those disadvantaged positions?So the next time you see a trolley car problem — even the comedy/shitpost/joke problems — ask yourself, "who are those people tied to the track, and how did they get there in the first place?
