I'm getting tired of cancelling people, and I'm tired of the social media telling me what I can or can't read, play or listen to, Mastodon included.The problem is that you won't find perfect artists anywhere. Elvis? A pedophile. Picasso? A misogynist. Dali was a fascist, and don't get me started about Wilde, Nabokov, Polanski, Kipling, Hemingway or Lovecraft. All of them horrible people. The problem with that worldview, that you shall demand spiritual purity from every creator in the world, is that you are left with a very poor palette of artists; most of them hypocrites.I enjoy reading Dilbert, even when Scott Adams is a person that I wouldn't want to be acquaintances with. I like watching Rick and Morty, and I think it's a pity that Roiland is out of the show. Ren & Stimpy are hilarious, even when Jim Kricfalusi harassed a young girl.

I can bet money that if you put a private detective to follow any artist that you like, you will find that most of them are alcoholic, or drug users, or wife-beaters, or womanizers, or unfaithful, or are illegally streaming tv shows, or they smoke, or they don't recycle, or they aren't vegetarian, or had sexual misconducts at some point in their lives. Asimov was known for grabbing women's behinds, without their consent, of course. Let's not even speak about Philip K. Dick.
