That whole trans VA drama that just happen the AK community is exactly why the community itself feels so bad to me overall, and another example of why gatekeeping is important. In the case of AK, the game itself already has allegories for minorities, gays, and other similar things so it isn’t really surprising that it fostered the community it did.

@Ronnie21093 Basically, Rosmontis got her English VA announced a few days ago and said VA is trans. Naturally, a few otakus on Twitter didn’t like that a loli was getting voice by a guy identifying as a woman. Instead of just ignoring the comments like a smart person, the VA clapped back by basically saying they are getting rid of all transphobes and replacing them, which prompted that original otaku to try and email Yostar/HyperGryph to fire them, all this then got one of those small news accounts to report on it, framing it like the VA attacked first. Got the rest of the AK community to come to the defense of the VA, even a few notable figures got in on it. Didn’t really go anywhere after that and the VA is still voicing Rosmontis, but the VA did private their account. Basically none of this would’ve happened if the VA just shut the fuck up.

To me, they’ve been really annoying for years in the first place because they are elitists that Arknights is some sort of savior of gachas that does things no one else does which is a flat out lie.

@LolikingSama @Ronnie21093 I’ve noticed over the years that leftists tend to lack even basic internet knowledge. If they didn’t then this VA would understand to simply ignore the people against you and yet prove to them that you are better than they thought. I learned this many years ago when I was brony lol. No one inherently cares that you are trans but they do understand to be weary of your kind based on publicly available information.

You know, we probably would’ve a good few more dark skinned characters in gacha games if the western playerbase wasn’t idiots by demand more for representation and diversity and instead called it how it is: Wanting cute and hot as fuck chocolate waifus. You know, I feel like in a way many people now want to play gacha games yet don’t want gacha in them. They want the gacha to be so easy and so effortless to get their favorite characters to max copies to the point that they want the gacha’s to basically hand them out for free on each pull. Which I feel is a testament to people wanting more non-gacha/live service anime games in the west.

@dassauerkraut @Ace66062 Which is why I think they want to play normal anime games but these are the same people that also ruined anime games in the west thanks to hating a ton of aspects of anime and wanting the medium to be western focused. So the only actually successful anime games in the west these days is gacha games yet they are trying to ruin those as well. Not because they are gacha’s, but because they are anime.

And also these gacha games have successfully converted a ton of meta players from other games which frankly is making the experience of them worse overall. Like, you could simply want to look up some cool or interesting videos about a character you like but if they aren’t meta then around 90% of their videos will be about how terrible they are by meta standards. It’s annoying.
