I'm thinking about what a Linux audio pc would need for me to switch from windows and not look back.

       - Drivers for my ZEDi10, my primary audio interface.- Drivers for my Boss Katana - not a must have, but another way to get guitars into my DAW- Linux version of Studio One, my primary recording DAW. I would probably be willing to switch to Reaper, which I think I remember is on Linux- Linux version of Harrison Mixbus, my fave mixing DAW - I just noticed the new version supports Linux

SSL seems to have bought Harrison. They also seem to have dumped all previous information about purchases and there isn't an upgrade path to the latest version. So I'd have to buy Mixbus all over again.

Studio One is in Linux public beta, so no idea if it works or works well.

It looks like there are some attempts to make windows plugins work on Linux, I'd need to look into this more. But in general, moving my existing stuff from Windows to Linux wouldn't be a trivial thing.

Supposedly, Carla and Wine together could work for many of my plugins.I'm guessing my UAD plugins won't work because of the license checking?

On the plus side, it looks like my ZEDi10 should work on Linux as is.Boss Katana maybe not so much. The biggest pain here is not being able to use tone studio on a linux PC.

My cat got injured and is recovering in my studio. She doesn't really want me to work on music - after all, I could be paying attention to her instead! But I'm going to try to get a bit of mixing done later tonight. The main focus will be EQing, maybe the last major area I need to start to tackle. I have some frequency charts to help out. If I end up cutting out a meow shaped hole in my mix, you'll know why.

Recording vocals in my untreated studio. I did an A-B comparison between an NT1-A and an SM58. The SM58 sounded better to my ears for my voice for this song. It's a great little mic, isn't it?#HomeRecording #DIYMusic #GearSquad
