Imperial Airways Short S.23C Empire class flying boat, Caladonia, was given a send-off by Irish President Eamon De- Velara from the west coast of Ireland on its trans-Atlantic Flight to America. The plane had to be stripped down to the minimum weight in order to complete the journey.
