@stux I'm OS-agnostic. Current work computer is Linux, my personal computer is Windows, as a give from my previous employer, and I'm currently typing on an iMac.

@stux that is so cute! I've never seen such quintessential happy closed eyes in real life, only drawings.

@aljazeera when will the populous call for tighter gun control laws?

@strypey thanks for that. Certainly a lot to think about.I did start collating NZ journalists that had who they write for in their bio. Mostly cos I was wanting to follow them and was doing the work of looking for them on here so was just hoping to save others the work. Having just now figured out DMs I am asking new ones if they want to be included. Not sure if they'll get the DMs though if they're new and haven't figured out DMs yet.

I *love* Content Warnings. I love being able to skip the #rugby (although I might rethink that one if it's accompanied by the #BlackFerns ), or know others can easily skip my #gardening or #food posts without getting the pip with me. I love that the community here cares about others who have suffered #DomesticAbuse to not expose to more stories they may not have the ability to cope with at the mo. *However*, some use cases have me asking "who does this serve?" and likewise, "who does this harm?"

There is a dark side to content warning things. Where people get to ignore it and still claim innocence "oh, I didn't know". If the community (by and large) directly and negatively affected by sth says they want that thing under a CW, absolutely! Otherwise, no. We are just giving people the ability to scroll on by saying "I didn't know".

And claiming innocence has direct negative consequences. People are less likely to change harmful behaviour, or do something constructive to prevent other people's harmful behaviour.

This would thus apply to people's lived experience of sexism, racism, transphobia, etc, but also to things that require activism: climate change, the current decision in Iran, etc. Perhaps for some things we shouldn't get to just scroll on by.
