@jeffcliff @mgeist Age verification for certain online platforms is honestly something I am in support of, mainly extremist safe havens (though I believe they should be allowed to exist) and porn sites. Sadly it seems more like an opportunity to collect more data on citizens, and almost definitely restrict speech.

@jeffcliff @mgeist In a perfect world, the restrictions would only apply for in-state IPs, and there would be a sort of "ticket" system where you are given a username/password that isn't tied to the credentials you used to acquire it. Of course, I don't support this bill because I can't see any government going to such lengths to preserve online anonymity.

@jeffcliff I don't mean to get on your case Jeff, but as an American, why is your stance on 0 covid so hard line? The debates basically died over here, but it seems Canada is still doing lockdowns.I understand it is a global pandemic, but hasn't it basically become as common as the flu at this point? And supposedly mutated into much less deadly strains?I might be missing parts of the picture, so please don't take this as me trying to be bad faith about it.

@jeffcliff Oh well if it is really that bad then I guess humanities already checked out then, with the difficulty detecting it there is is a non-trivial amount of people that will be dropping dead, or needing constant care coming up. No point to me worrying at that point if everyone I know has an AIDs equivalent.I understand you are very passionate about it, but that's the sort of response that rhetoric will have. I applaud you for standing your ground on the issue though, I imagine most responses lead to people screeching at you.
