It took me awhile, but with Tim Burchett calling Kamala #Harris a "DEI" candidate, I think I just realized how racist a dog whistle that is.Like, I "knew" that, rationally, but calling Kamala a "DEI" hire, given her incredible talents, which outstrip losers like Burchett by miles, it just really hit.She's a woman. @spiegelmama @dpnash My undergrad was in classics -- lotta ancient world study, so we tend to look at "technology" more broadly than postmodern peoples.Mules are, through that lens, absolutely technology -- first off, we bred them, and they're necessarily domesticated...Then there's all the harness and tack to go along with it...Look at the development of the stirrup for horses -- it came along thousands of years after horses were domesticated. It's high tech.
