@stux I agree on most points. Fully agree that it should NOT be in Qatar! However, I do plan to watch. I very much enjoy how the #WorldCup unites people. I'm hard-pressed to think of anything that does a better job of creating a shared interest. across languages, countries, and artificial "tribes".I was originally going to be silent with my semi-dissenting opinion. BUT...thought I'd try honesty and discover what kind of response I get in this new community that I've joined!

Not sure I've ever seen this many days in a row of hoar frost in #Winnipeg. Out for our second ski of the season at Beaudry Park.

As a 40+ year fan of the CFL and vocal critic of CFL refs, I have to admit that the officiating has significantly improved over the last 3-4 years. There used to be 5-6 times per game where I would just shake my head and say "WHAT??!!". Far rarer these days. The NFL is still the gold standard, but the CFL is getting close. Perfect? No. And it never will be. But getting pretty darn good.#CFL #CFLOM

@khirdThank you for bringing that up!I thought that was a great non-call. In my opinion, it was a glancing incidental contact, not at all worthy of a penalty. And aren't the replay offcials supposed to overrule egregious non-calls?Having said this, I do agree with Milt that there is supposed to be zero tolerance for contact with the QB's head. So, I would "get it" if the replay officials overruled the non-call. What's your opinion?#CFL #CFLOM

Houston seems to have a really solid plan to effectively reduce homelessness. In my hometown (Winnipeg), we just seem to wing it with a bit of money here and there to put a bandaid on the symptoms of the real problem. It sure would be nice if we tried to learn from others.https://www.cnn.com/2023/06/08/opinions/homelessness-solutions-houston-model-eichenbaum-nichols/index.html#Houston #Winnipeg

@apps I was having lots of issues with holes in the timeline, so I started playing with cache settings and I think I made things worse (created lengthy delays in refreshing posts, especially in saved lists). Can I expect these problems to likely go away?

I think Milt Stegall is carving out a niche for himself on the CFL panel. The curmudgeonly guy who calls it as he sees it. Sanchez is improving, playing off of Milt's bad cop routine. Matt Dunigan should be building on his QB career to be the analytical guy. If Matt can't step into this role, then I think they need an analytical guy like Lapo on the panel on a regular basis. #CFLOM #CFL

@khird On the panel, or even in some other capacity, e.g. available to comment on calls during marquee games. Maybe FNF doubleheaders or something like that.

My wife got some bad health news last Tuesday, and she's now going through the CancerCare MB intake process. Our healthcare capabilities in Manitoba are awful. 3 weeks for a CT scan, and 6 weeks for an "urgent" appt with a gynecologist. Multiple prov govts have taken the easy way out by promising low taxes and letting healthcare (and almost everything else) crater. We need to demand that politicians give us the straight goods, not what we necessarily want to hear.#MBPoli #Winnipeg #Manitoba

If you live in Manitoba, ask others who work in or have had to go through our healthcare system. It needs urgent investment, even if we all have to pay a little bit more tax. You, or one of your loved ones will need healthcare sometime soon. And you'll see what has really happened behind the scenes. And you, or your loved ones will wonder "How did it come to this?" Now is NOT the time to vote for a party promising to bribe you with your own money. It's the time to rebuild.#MBPoli #Winnipeg
