@niconiconi my experience watching the clock cycles: code and it's execution are too complex (for any real-world system that makes measurements and tries to operate in real time). You can't model it and know it will follow the model. I'd guess it'd be too hard to craft a system that pushes the probability out far enough.Early on I built systems that tried not to lock, telling myself the failure was a 3 nsec window in span of 10 msec. That's rolling a nat 1 on a 3 million sided die. And yet it locks up all the time. So, that said, go out there and figure out how to do it. Maybe there is some way to craft the code to make it more deterministic and set the stage for "only locks once in a decade". If the cost of a lock up isn't death then maybe it's worth a shot.

@lovelylovely good to hear. It gives me hope. I'm in Utah and I'm surrounded by people who who say they are religious, yet excuse rape, criminal business practices, and adultery because pundits are telling them how horrible their life is (even though they are doing great).

A curious little game: Go to Doge.gov. Pick any canceled gov contract at random. Note the "amount saved". Then go to usaspending.gov and look up the contract. "Strange things are afoot at the Circle-K". Looks like DOGE is a bit ENRON, cooking those books. I'm curious if others see what I see.

I'm seeing things like this. DOGE claims 252k saved. That seems untrue.

@ricci I thought the original plan was to surround the Federal Building. They have way, way too many people for that. How many people do you estimate that crowd is?

@ricci I'm really bad at guessing crowd size, but I'd say > 25k.

@ricci wait, don't we need 10,000 /dev/random's to make all this work?

@futurebird The cat lives off grid. No social security number. No phone. No internet. It's a good life
