I’m really sorry and this is so unfortunate. My instance too has been ‘blocked’ or as they say, ‘Suspended’ from mastodon.art because some Admin of that instance thought that I’m a ‘fan’ of @alex ‘Fan’ because I’ve been recommending Soapbox + Rebased which Alex has created. It’s a great piece of software so what’s wrong in recommending it? Another reason cited was ‘recommends Spinster’: I did because I was trying to help some lady out here who was looking for a Feminist oriented instance. And Bam, “Suspended because the admin recommends Spinster”. Enough rant and I don’t need to explain myself because I find it laughable. However, big Instances/Servers being run on the whims and fancies of Instance Admins will be the downfall of the Federation. It defeats the entire purpose. End note: Suspended means I can no longer see posts from the instance on the timeline of my instance.

Thanks. I know about that part. The History is what I really want. I don’t bookmark everything and I remember the said site by their keywords, so I rely more on history than bookmarks for that. One other option would be to import everything from Firefox to Chrome then go about Importing from Chrome to Librewolf. Not sure if that would work.

I’ve always thought the Mastodon Covenant doesn’t say ‘No Promotions’, so why don’t Instance admins add one to keep the wheels running? Users can always leave the instance and join another if they don’t want to see promotions. Speaking of promotions, some admins might be averse to the idea of donations - it’s a cultural thing for some to go about asking for a donation.

It no longer affects me much. Similar to Dave Winer, I gave up arguing or shoving my beliefs to strangers on the internet a longgg time ago. It however did affect me (recently) when one big ‘art’ instance blocked my instance because they don’t ‘like’ the person who has created the software that I use for my instance. Sigh!It’s 🍿 time (at times). My favorite are the ones that go, “I’m exercising my right to free speech”. Immediately after which some smart alec replies with “Free speech comes with consequences, shut your trap!” Rinse, repeat! 😹

I nuked them this morning (defederated). Got 4 follow requests, checked the domain and instantly recognized it was a spammy server. If you’re spamming, at least make it subtle or take the effort to create some profile picture. Jesus!

I noticed it’s Misskey but images from Misskey sites load just fine - even from my instance. I thought it had to do with my instance so went to mk.gabe.rocks (the source) to double check. Same issue - image can’t be loaded.

They had come up with a way of storing data in cassette tapes? Wow! I knew about the ‘tape backups’ that would happen on a periodic basis but those were at a server level. I guess the principle is the same?
