@Dragon @Hey_Beth @TCatInReality @gbhnews @chris @NPR Right. I know on Twitter they had several accounts, like NPR Tech, etc. But looks like they have an automated feed of most of their stories here. Maybe I misunderstand what crossposting is, but seems posting directly here is better, even if automated, for now. Meets my primary need, which is to see their stories as published throughout the day

#OTD November 3, 1987Negativland released their fourth album, “Escape From Noise”This was my introduction to the band and it changed forever how I looked at music and art. I’d heard some experimental sounds, but nothing as clever and complex as this. I suppose it helped that they have some actual songs and overall more structure to each track as compared to their earlier records. Playing “Christianity Is Stupid” on college radio in 1988 was always fun, and a bit risky. I got a couple complaints from the usual suspects (“communism is good” probably didn’t help either, 😂). I would use “Quiet Please” as my show opening theme during a second stint as a DJ in the late 90s. The track I think best represents this album and Negativland’s overall genius is “Yellow Black and Rectangular”. Scott Goddard - “Cowpunk” (1984)A wonderfully silly parody of the then-popular L.A. “cowpunk” scene"Cowpunk" was Goddard’s only real “hit”, although I think it was pretty much limited to SoCal, as the song got regular airplay on LA’s new music station KROQ.Goddard was a member of the Surf Punks. The Soundcarriers - “Already Over” (2024)New band to me, but they’ve been putting out music since 2007. Psychedelic rock from Nottingham, UK, featuring hazy vocals and harmonies mixed with ‘60’s era guitar and keyboard driven psychedelia. As one BC reviewer noted, it sounds a bit reminiscent of early Komeda. @caravan That's really cool to hear because this album was one of my very first experiences with hardcore. One of the first songs I heard after discovering college radio was "Haizman's Brain Is Calling" 🤩 🔥 And they were local to me, so we could see guys like Greg around town all through the 80s. Highly underrated band and album. They were very "punk rock" in both good and bad ways. @historyofpunkrock

@Unabart Good call out! I mean that album really put Bruce’s vocals at the forefront. It’s an odd album for sure. Flipper in ‘93. Rick Rubin. Was hard to get my head around but the opening baseline is classic Flipper. It grew on me. Cool you saw them live on that specific tour.
