I often complain that Americans have this very bad tendency of thinking that they are the default country, thinking that they don't need to mention what country they're talking about when talking about a societal issue. Either because they think other countries are irrelevant, or somehow worse, thinking that their country's issues apply to every other country and everyone else. Here is a good example. However, this example is interesting, because you instantly understand what country is being talked about here.RE: https://mastodon.social/users/jsrailton/statuses/110328291072912302

@Linux_in_a_Bit@linuxrocks.online Yes. I'm not that interested. Maybe I'd be if I was rich.Lego prices have become insane in Japan, mostly because the yen has been weak for too long now and Lego just "translate" their prices. In other words, back in the days, a 50 Euros set would be 5,000 yen in Japan. Now, a 50 Euros set is 7,000 yen. (and there are fewer and fewer 50 Euros sets anyway)Five years ago, you could get biggish sets for 10,000 yens, now it's the price for a medium-sized set basically. So, I'm looking for a cheaper hobby these days.I've been from buying almost all the sets I used to find interesting to buying a couple of bigger sets a year (and no more small sets, they're just not worth it anymore). Sorry, I'm rambling at this point.

@Linux_in_a_Bit@linuxrocks.online Oh. There's a Spanish flag on the graph that you posted. You're even luckier then. The US probably has the cheapest Lego in the world. I don't know why, but I'm so jealous. Not to even mention the clearance deals that I often see posted online. When my local Toys 'R Us wants to get rid of some old sets, they just put a clearance sticker on it and the price is unchanged.

@Linux_in_a_Bit@linuxrocks.online It's about 10,000 yen.Prices on the official store are usually the same everywhere. But in other shops, they greatly vary. In the US, I understand that at Walmart or Target, you'll find this set for about $50 probably. Here, it'll be 9,000 at the lowest.

I'm sure you're busy and all, but I have a question for @kainoa and @freeplay. First of all, thanks for #Calckey is just a great app. However, is there a reason why the "Post" window is so small? With a 4,000-character limit, I'd like to see more of my text when I type something. Only five lines wide is a bit too narrow. Is there a reason for this?
