Cooling down for Winter now here in the Central Queensland Gemfields while you Northern Hemisphereans are getting through Spring changes. Fast becoming a basketcase down here with a mostly sleeping population still unaware of the problems surfacing at home and abroad. My Bride is now fitter than I am after her year from hell. Cancer has almost gone from her sub-conscious even as she is leaping back to full fitness. Thank you all for prayers and well wishes.

@Mnorman White Curl Grubs. I am having that problem as well. Have treated with Eco-Neem Oil. About 10ml/litre water and water into soil around the plants. Should take care of the problem for you. Those grubs can do major damage to lawns as well. Little root-nibbling mongrels,,,,,

@Mnorman tip the bag contents out where you can reclaim the contents again and turf any grubs onto somewhere the birds can see them. The birds are better than any treatment. Maybe when you reload your grow bags you can put a small shield of insect screen around your seedlings to stop the beetles laying the eggs.

@Jaime The Bride is happy enough with the cooler weather here, she gets to wear different clothes from the wardrobe she hasn't worn all summer. Gets very smoothly dressed for the sales job and, God love her, she does strut a bit,,,,, 😀😀😀She does get excited if she has sold some Sapphires over the day,,,

@Jaime yep, all sapphires, and a nice range of colours. We get very few Rubies here in Aust. The odd one that is found is usually not even good enough quality to bother faceting. They would not give a nice clean, sharp crystal.

@Jaime Blue is a very common colour, however the deep blue are cheaper to buy than the other colours. A star in the centre of a stone makes the value sky-rocket a fair bit. Simply called Star Sapphires the value can treble or even fourple per carat weight. We are coming into our Tourist Season over winter here as well so the normally placid atmosphere will probably rev up a fair bit. I'll get a pic of the Sapphire pendant I bought the Bride about 10 years ago when we first began coming here.

@Jaime Those pics are from the display cabinet,,, those stones are set up to show size wise, not by weight. A 1 to 1.5ct would measure about 5 - 7mm or about a quarter inch.

This was the wattle tree (Acacia sp.) across the corner from us that the local council came, cut down and shredded, because it was right on the corner of the streets. I was livid because it wasn't restricting driver vision. But 7 workers, 2 trucks and 2 pick-ups totally removed it. Bastards.
