Today, my younger daughter told me she's probably going to apply for a job in Michigan. I've known for a long time that it was a real possibility she would move, but it really bums me out, which, in turn makes me feel very selfish. I keep reminding myself that there's a big road between here and there and it's not too far for weekend visits. (I think it's about 10 hours).

From today’s #walk. My aunt says this is the most blooms ever on this tree. (It’s been there my whole life, and, until last year it had a tire swing. The tire finally broke and was replaced with a nylon one)

@grammargirl This is a thing (in real life) that has bothered me for a long time. People who exude confidence seem to attract others, while real experts understand what they don't know and get overlooked or ignored.

@LisaSpartan That is a FABULOUS bloom. None of my dahlias came back this year (but I didn't really give them the love they need).

@LisaSpartan I think experts suggest digging up dahlia here to overwinter, but mine have come back a few times just leaving them out. I think if I put an extra layer of mulch or a black bag filled with leaves (a "leaf blanket") over them for the winter they'd come back every year. Usually by October or so, I'm getting horribly lazy, though. That color really is amazing!
