@matthannon Yes I was thinking of going to England during that period and then just decided: Nope.

@matthannon @janrosenow Yes, though Putin had started the energy price side of the war by October the previous year or earlier so February is not the start date for war impact there.

@matthannon If you want duckweed (or even if you don't) I can supply that. Also yellow flag iris and carex pendula.

@matthannon Great. She is an excellent MP :-) I am sure you will both learn lots.

@matthannon I know another family with several apple trees who don't expect to have a surplus this year Vs a 40 box surplus last year so pretty terrible reduction. However, often a bad year after a good one.

@matthannon I got an adapter during lockdown which I have used a few times in the office, but not for several months as comfortable sitting at present.

@mjg59 There might be a risk of no rooms being available when you go to buy the supplement and one does not willingly travel twice in one of those seats. The rooms are nice but the seats are designed to encourage you to buy an upgrade. If you are visiting Glasgow then you would be welcome to visit Strathclyde, but I am sure you have more exciting things planned.

@mjg59 The supplement comes with the allocated room number? If so sounds good. Never tried that but travel on the sleeper semi-regularly.

@MishaalRahman 7 years is a huge improvement in support length, but Fairphone is offering 10 years, so still a long way off the market leader in long term support.

@mjg59 I enjoyed reading that. Hazy memories of working on a little tool that read ELF binaries to tell you why the modem firmware no longer fitted in RAM. Almost all my commercial coding to date went into that one summer long ago ;-). Worked well IIRC.

@tnhh Strathclyde is just completely closed as not worth trying on a Bank Holiday. Also tomorrow as we got a fancy award ;-) enjoy the doughnuts, shame you are too far away for me to snaffle some

@strypey @smallcircles The os is Linux and you can SSH in with the provided root password and so while not entirely free software, you can interact with it using entirely free software tools without any issues or touching any cloud services.

@futurebird Great tips, thank you. The other tip I give my students about protests is to bring food (ideally vegan so nearly everyone can have it) and water to share. Sometimes protests take longer than people expect and shops along the route tend to have massive queues from all the other hungry protesters.

@futurebird I think it would even be possible to make graduation work fairly nicely, you can migrate your account out at graduation and keep your social links, but the posts stay at school.

@futurebird My understanding of the text as explained by our pastor last year is that there is an unnecessary focus on the lack of a guest room. The most likely place they were staying is with relatives, but in a standard one up one down home the relatives would have already filled the "up" room and so the "down" room, shared with the animals, would have been the only available place. So the equivalent of sleeping on relatives' sofas, except smellier and less comfortable.
