@TalmudTranslator @WashedOutGundamPilot That Olympic stove-piped every 3rd round. Luckily a friend had just bought it so I added Olympic to the “do not buy” list that day.I don’t think I’ve ever sold any gun stuff I’ve gotten over the years no matter how janky (probably why I still have an AP9 lol). I view it kind of like precious metals; it always goes up over time. But in the case of those SKS’s, I can remember a time when gun shows had crates of them still covered in cosmoline for $99 a pop. I kick myself for not buying a truck load.

@DejaDear Sounds like me. I have an old Galaxy S6 Active that I wiped (for extra space) and filled with music. It stays plugged into a Bose soundbar in the garden shed.

@DejaDear That’s a GREAT playlist; especially the old stuff. It’s not often you encounter someone who’s familiar with The Osborne Brothers and The Country Gentlemen. The only thing I noticed missing ; )https://youtu.be/ACN9ub00Hz4

@DejaDear That’s awesome. I have a somewhat similar story. There were always country classics from to 50’s to the 90’s playing in our house but the go-to was always Bluegrass. I’m a stones throw from Appalachia and both my grandparents were literally Hillbillies LOL. I haven’t kept up with it for a while but if you like “Newgrass” check out some Split Lip Rayfield. We have a local college radio station that broadcasts Bluegrass on the weekends, I’ll have to look it up and see if you can listen online : )

@DejaDear Here ya go! There should be a listen/play button at the top left of the screen next to a description of what’s currently broadcasting. The Bluegrass show is Saturdays from 11am to 7pmhttps://www.wncw.org/show/goin-across-the-mountainYou may like this show too. Country Gold.https://www.wncw.org/show/country-goldIf you like Celtic music.https://www.wncw.org/show/celtic-windsA mix of traditional and regional mountain music,https://www.wncw.org/show/this-old-porchThey have some great programming, but they’re also NPR associated so they’re insufferable shitlibs in between the shows. Arc Overnight used to be my go-to. I’d listen every night midnight to 4am. It’s basically a request show and they play literally anything. I found some really good new music on those broadcasts.

@Spergo1875 Excellent advice. Also that shotgun is basically just “point and shoot” without the need for more precise aiming. 1 small clarification on the “box of shells” - get buckshot, not birdshot. Not saying birdshot won’t work as a deterrent and it’s better than nothing, but it’s typically only effective (on intruder sized targets) at point blank range. Buckshot puts considerable distance and damage capability between you and the target.

@ThatWouldBeTelling @Spergo1875 Oh I definitely agree that a rifle or handgun should be the go-to option. I was speaking more to OP suggesting that it’s an option with a lower barrier to entry and shorter learning curve. I added the caveat of proper ammo selection to increase distance and efficacy in a close quarters situation to help reduce the chances of someone getting close enough to take your weapon. Another thing to consider is if you live in an apartment with adjoining units or a house with more occupants than yourself. Buckshot reduces the chances of a projectile over-penetrating walls and doing collateral damage.Personally? I live in a home with multiple other occupants, but I’m well trained with my equipment so I’m grabbing the pistol 10/10 times. Also couldn’t agree more that with the way the world is going I highly encourage everyone to purchase and learn to use at least 1 of each pistol/rifle/shotgun. Having all 3 ensures you have coverage for most situations from defense to hunting. As for black rifles: the AR pattern rifle has gotten increasingly inexpensive over the passed few years. You can now purchase a reliable entry level rifle for $400. Those kind of prices allow you to get the AR for defense and a K98 clone for hunting : )

Another situation where something is redefined to fit a broad (agency created) definition. This is why Chevron Deference needs to be overturned. I’ve been following similar battles with recent firearms litigation and was curious if other agencies, specifically the EPA, were trying to pull the same gymnastic workarounds for currently established law. Thank you for confirming my suspicions. As one 2A attorney put it - “if you don’t like the law, change the law, not the definition”. But that requires new (typically unpopular) legislation to be passed.

Oh yeah, I’m aware of all that. I follow the 2A stuff pretty closely. Don’t even get me started on the Safer Communities Act. What a CF, and two RINOs from my state were fully onboard. I was a member of my high school Hunter’s Safety team where I competed in the rifle and shotgun categories. Currently I have a niece who competes on her schools archery team, so I’m waiting to see how they get screwed over. They know if you start people early it takes away the fear and expands the franchise. I lived in NJ for a short period and all I had to do was say the word “gun” and ppl would look at me in horror. Per the FFL requirements; they’ve always hated private transfers. So now they want to require everyone to be an FFL, but don’t make a profit, and BTW they’ll shut you down for even the tiniest of clerical errors (3+ cases already that I know of). From what I’ve seen some states are doing great and actually clawing back some of their rights (the 27 you mentioned) and others are going fully in the other direction to see what they can get away with (i.e. New Mexico). Everything is getting litigated to death (see this weeks Bonta decision out of California concerning magazines) but in the end it’s still death by 1000 cuts. As for Trump you’d be surprised at the amount of normies I see bring up the bump stock ban. There’s also a lot of cope about it too, but it definitely put a bad taste in people’s mouths that they can’t ignore. It proved to them he wasn’t the advocate he claimed to be. But like I always tell them; you aren’t voting your way out of this.Apparently there’s a case coming before SCOTUS soon that may decide the fate of Chevron Deference. If that falls and is added to Roe, plus their burning hatred of the Heller and Bruen decisions, I could see them beating the “stack the courts” drum again. And of course the GOPe would be fine with it as long as some RINOs get added. FFS they want to replace McConnell with Cornyn, a major backer of the SCA.

@ThatWouldBeTelling Posting over here as not to blow up Scalar’s mentions anymore :) Sorry, my FFL comment was a bit of strawman to simplify things. Your club analogy is correct. I think in essence they’re trying to create a catch 22 of sorts. They want all transactions to go through an FFL (creating another soft registry) but if you want to sell just 1 item (even intrastate) the “no profit” constraint is a stick to force you to either get an FFL, take a loss, or resell for market value and create a paper trail (more tracking) and also puts you under the jurisdiction of the IRS. All for 1 item you sold to a neighbor/friend. If that makes sense.Grisham is definitely a narcissist. You can see it in all her post-ban interviews where everyone, even CNN, is telling her it’s unconstitutional and her stance is an unwavering “no, it is everyone else who is wrong”. Though I think her biggest mistake was forgetting to read the instructions on how to boil the frog. It’s a pretty safe bet that those around her in positions of power agree with her stance; she just tried to go to far to fast and gave the plan away. When David Hogg is coming out against her, you know she’s done goofed.I saw a map of the vote in Oregon and it was an island of yes’s surrounded by an ocean of no’s. It’s no wonder the eastern half wants to secede to Idaho, although I’m sure all the new carpetbaggers to ID will be boxing them in soon enough.Yeah, the 9th circuit is known to be not gun friendly and cases being rallied between them and Saint Benitez are not uncommon. But at this point it’s becoming more like a game of hot potato than judicial procedure. Some are saying “but muh Bruen decision is so new that the Supreme Court is giving inferior courts the chance to do the right thing”. That would be fine I suppose other than the fact it can take a plaintiff months, if not years, to get a case heard whereas the state can get an appeal within days. But on a somewhat encouraging note: it seems some judges are getting fed up with it. This was just posted after yesterdays Duncan vs Bonta appeal to the 9th circuit. (PS - to your “sensitive places” post; this channel just posted a new video regarding that as well).https://youtu.be/AzRhM-zbIEc?si=UwUSiRPj_kPOXa56RT: https://shitposter.club/objects/ea23827f-44bd-4093-b595-7907a84f68ac
