@stux FYI they behaved so poorly that the Texas judge (the behaviour of the lawyers and of Jones and Free Speech Systems/InfoWars) yesterday lifted the usual cap on punitive damages that exists in Texas.https://www.nytimes.com/2022/11/22/us/politics/alex-jones-texas-verdict.htmlThat was for the Lewis and Heslin case - so the full $49 million + sanctions are owed for this case. There is also pending cases in Texas (Posner and Fontaine) which are due to be heard in March/April and October 2023.#SandyHook #AlexJones #InfoWars #FSS

@stux as a grad student we moved into a brand new building with very sensitive fire alarms in the high performance computing server room.In the first year in the building we spent so much time waiting outside to be allowed back in, several times a week. We would grab everyone's coats and bags to ensure that we could, at a minimum, get home if things were taking an age.It would take *a minimum of 30 minutes* and often longer; and that was only starting the timer once everyone left the building.

@Teri_Kanefield forwarded onto a bunch of #policyWonk fans of the #KnowledgeFight podcast who have got really into stuff relating to defamation cases (especially repeated defamations for the purposes of driving up traffic).At the moment we are picking through bits released in #AlexJones and #FreeSpeechSystems (aka #InfoWars ) bankruptcy proceedings.Thanks for the nice explainers on this case.

I am based in UK so no #Eurovision vote for me today but I have some thoughts on what I've seen so far.Too much on production theatrics - if going down that route why force singers to sing live?Venue staging: I like the stage design / shape of the catwalk part of it.Love some of the bonkers entries #Croatia โค๏ธI'd love to watch a live stream reaction of a US rightwing commentator trying to understand what's happening. Then would love someone else to critically unpick / unpack what they say.
