       Is there a fancy science term for the process by which capitalism ruins everything? Like how somebody comes up with something cool and makes it happen and it's good, and then it turns into a company, and then the company is incentivized to gradually ruin the thing and find the worst version of the product that consumers will still tolerate so as to maximize investor profit?In music we call this process "selling out" but is there a more general term?#capitalism #economics

       Look we all know conspiracy theories and the like are terrible and ruining politics and so on and so forth, but they used to be kind of fun and I miss that lol. So I'm looking for your best *petty conspiracy theories* - little conspiracy theories or similar ideas that are about things that are extremely low stakes, so it doesn't matter if people get caught up in them.Mine is that the consortium that owns the 407 hwy has a secret deal with Google Maps to trick people into taking their road lol

       @brosandprose I first encountered The Line because an acquaintance of mine on LinkedIn had it listed as his job and I was curious so looked into it, and then I assumed it was some kind of progressive advocacy fiction like "look, let's condense the 15 minute city idea into something so ridiculous the media will have to cover it", and then gradually came to the horrified realization that it was a real, albeit *incredibly stupid*, plan lol
