@stux I am eagerly awaiting Tesla's 1st quarter financials, with sales down 40%+ in most markets from last year. By my estimates, it'll post a loss, and that will probably be really exciting for the stock price!That said, I do expect some serious shenanigans to make the financials look less bad, like claiming a profit from a big increase in inventory (the cars Musk can't sell anymore).

@stux I don't buy video games anymore unless they're complaining that the games are "woke". I take it to mean that the designers are skilled and decent people.

Hard day for our foster Mr. Blue. The rescue had us take him to the vet for his second RHDV vax, so we had to trick him into his carrier, which he did NOT like. The vet looked at his ears (he seems functionally deaf) and found infections in both ears (ouch!) and gave him a long acting antibiotic. Plus he has fur mites and he got Paxlovid for that. Then he had to get groomed (at least no second trip). Now he is hiding in the back of his pen. Hopefully the ear treatments will work!

The Democratic party since the Iraq war has consistently tried to do major left policies like Biden's original Build Back Better act, a statutory right to abortion, blocks on gerrymandering, or a public option in Obama's ACA, and been blocked by Democrats in Name only like Lieberman, Manchin, and Sinema. Manchin and Sinema eventually even dropped the pretense and switched to independent.

When, any wherre, any time, was any bill passed that did more to fight climate change than Build Back Better? The answer is "never". It was the largest by far. If you're saying the biggest policy ever to address IMO the biggest issue in the world is too little to justify support, then your standards are unreasonable.

And would have saved 15,000 more if the Republicans on the Supreme court hadn't rewritten then law.It's now been 11 years since implementation, and I think a law that was written to save about 100,000 is a very good thing. @futurebird @johnzajac We *did* have an immigration bill. Trump blocked it.The important point is that when the policies aren't good enough, the problem is almost always that the Democrats don't have a large enough majority.

I know a number of Democrats who falsely thought Hillary had done something significantly wrong, even though they couldn't name it (because she didn't), and the reason was the relentless drumbeat of criticism in the media.

They flood social media with people saying the Democrats are "useless" and "not enough".The actions of the billionaires prove that's not true. I think it's mostly avoiding ads; I see Samuel Smith's distinction between good (honest) advertising and bad (manipulative) advertising but - seriously, when do you ever get honest advertising on media?

@futurebird I currently watch YouTube on Vivaldi with Ublock Origins. It works; I never see ads*; so I figure they're not getting any money from me and I don't mind using them.*In the past have had YouTube at times refuse to let me see vids. I have subscription to Nebula and CuriosityStream so I watch those instead for a day or to and then YouTube unblocks me. It's been months since this last happened, though.If YouTube really blocked me for my adblocker I'd stop watching.
