Even if it's committed to OSS, you're talking about a half-billion dollar a year organization, with business deals and revenue streams to protect.You know, Ubuntu.Size is a prerequisite. Size also guarantees certain modes of working. Those modes are the problem.I do not know of a way out of this loop.

@stepan There are tradeoffs, certainly. But a fully extensible pluggable system is just as hard, and results in petabytes of extra network traffic. And is much harder to use.The componentized web is built on wasm and web components. But a layout engine (CSS) is hard no matter what you do.

@wdeborger I'm not even sure there. "Write non-AI code" is too simple. It's not like Free Software where just building tools for a decade with copyleft licenses would work. (And even then, that got corrupted into Open Source as soon as it was economically advantageous.)
