@MeanwhileinCanada For years, I represented a lot of these people in bankruptcy. They were honorable, good, hard working people. Before they would come to me, they would often go through retirement savings or the equity in their home, trying to stave off the medical debt. Loss of employment went hand in hand with their medical crises. Plus, a medical bill was jointly owed by the spouse. So they both had to go into bankruptcy.

@Wolven In the near future, I intend to introduce a "better mouse" that will outcompete traditional #capitalism and provide workers with better wages and social security benefits.

@brewsterkahle Uh, pretty naive poem. For starters, #capitalism is programmed to self destruct. Second, capitalism is a series of random events.

@matthew @eloquence Labour Capitalism is a peaceful way to reduce and eliminate traditional capitalism. Under Labour Capitalism you would still have coops and sole proprietorships.#LCE #LabourCapitalism #Socialism #Economics#Capitalism

@bhasic The reason why people think like capitalists is that the concept of traditional capitalism is ubiquitous; we eat, breathe, and think in capitalist terms and have for 400 years. A new way of thinking is to have the means of production owned communally, not collectively for the community, but for the workers. It's not socialism, but a different approach to capitalism.

In a market economy, Commons Capitalism could outcompete traditional capitalism in any industry.Using Commons Capitalism Entities (CCEs), tens of millions of workers could receive premium wages and Nordic-style benefits such as healthcare, unemployment benefits, sickness benefits, disability support, childcare subsidies, parental leave, child benefits, (cont.)2/6

maternity grants, education, stipends, pensions, and long-term disability benefits. Each CCE would acquire new businesses and bring new workers under its payroll and social benefit umbrella.Alternatively, each CCE could spin off a new CCE that would, in turn, pay new workers under its umbrella premium wages and Nordic-style social benefits. Commons Capitalism would equitably distribute wealth, via worker's wages, (cont.)3/6

throughout communities, increasing the standard of living for all and raising the poor out of poverty. The benefits of Commons Capitalism are, as follows:The primary benefit is to distribute profits to workers in the form of premium wages and Nordic-style benefits and spinoff replicate entities. The secondary benefit is to equitably distribute wealth, via worker's wages, throughout the community. (cont.)4/6

The tertiary benefit is to reduce the accumulation of the means of production in fewer and fewer individuals.Commons Capitalism could begin tomorrow. It avoids the necessity of revolution and guarantees what will replace traditional capitalism. It's a system that once it gets established in the market system, will continue to multiply and provide better pay and benefits to more and more workers.5/6

@amerika It doesn't fit the definition of socialism because the means of production are neither publicly owned nor used for the general public. Distribution is made to workers only, not to the public generally.

@amerika People on the right call Commons Capitalism communism, Marxism, or Socialism and hate it. People on the left call it traditional capitalism and hate it. People in the middle call it just another workers' coop. They all dismiss it. All of them are wrong.

@aral I've known some pretty dumb people who became multimillionaires under capitalism. It doesn't take a whole lot of intelligence or education. Just hard work, perseverance, being frugal and knowing simple math.

@wjmaggos You're right about all the above. Capitalism is so diverse as to the opportunities (and pitfalls). Yes, companies making huge profits will see their profits reduce as new companies enter the market until the market matures. Then the market reaches some sort of stasis. Often companies will starrt up because they perceive some sort of advantage over the competition to where they think they have an advantage and greater return.

@wjmaggos What we want is irrelevant, except to the extent we want to by the product. There are no great intentions or well wishes in capitalism, only marketing, cost of investment, rate of return, and management with a few other things thrown in.

@wjmaggos Any type of additional investment is made to increase profits or reduce net expenses. Even the expense of "greenwashing" is an attempt at market differentiation to built customer allegiance and increase profits.

@wjmaggos I was talking about additional investment, not new investment. Sure. they all want to get rich, and that's not just new business school grads. Making money for most people is like having sex; just because they can make money, they think they know how do it well. I've dealt with hundreds of clients who were like that.
