@Haleakalacrater @radix023 What's your setup like? I'm wondering if squirrel baffles on poles and wire hangers could work for this too...

@Haleakalacrater @radix023 Yup, a pole on which you could put a baffle on the pole to prevent them from climbing. Pole should be a good distance from something that would give a racoon a chance to launch itself on the pole from the top.

@Haleakalacrater @radix023 Speaking of squirrels... It took me a couple of years to figure out how to block them from bringing chaos to my bird feeders. I lived in a 6-floor apartment building, on the fifth floor. All apartments had balconies. I had set up this intricate wire system high enough from the ground they couldn't jump on the feeders. The damn rodents figured out that if they came from the balcony over mine, they could give themselves a hip swing and land on the feeders from above. Had to put baffles on the wires but then they figured out they could launch themselves from my balcony's handrail. So... I bought poles, put baffles on them too, and I was finally squirrel-free. Hard intellectual work :blob_sweat:

@Haleakalacrater @radix023 Alas, since then I moved and I can't put bird feeders here. MIss it though. Loved to see all these kinds of birds. I lived on Ridgewood street in Côte-des-neiges, at the very top of the Mont-Royal. The building was surrounded by trees and a huge park. On the other side of that park was the beginning of Westmount. I saw birds I never knew lived in the city. And since the park was dense the birds would stop on their spring and fall migrations, too.

@HebrideanHecate I've been reflecting lately on all this. It has been more than 10 years I've been fighting the collective insanity. I don't think I have anything left anymore. Not to forget more insanity gets added daily. I raise the white flag. 🏳️

@HebrideanHecate They're ok. Mona is going on strong, have to monitor her food intake because she eats Lisa's share. And Lisa has lost some weight but blood tests say nothing unusual or alarming. How about your black devils?

@HebrideanHecate That being said, two things. The vet I see is ok, but god do I ever wish for former generations of vets (same goes for doctors/physicians) that took their jobs seriously and researched problems they rarely see and kept up to date with new diseases. Right now, I feel like ALL vets, including the one I see now for Mona and Lisa come out of the McDonald's school of veterinarians, try to coast on easy-peasy sessions (easy money). The only redeeming factor I keep the one I am seeing now is because she gives them acupuncture treatments which help in their nervousness. Lisa obviously has a skin problem (just very small rashes, here and there) or some kind of reaction. But heck, that is not in the disease of the month variety, so... As for my involvement in the collective craziness, I feel a little like I did when Twitter banned me: I don't want to start my days with anger in my heart and soul, I'm tired, stressed out, anxious, and reading about the doom and gloom eats away at me, now. I've no protection left. Was wondering if I should delete my account. Still thinking about it.

@HebrideanHecate The last good vet I saw was when Adèle and I had to bring in Genji, about 15 years ago. Dr Foote on Sherbrooke street was amazing. He must have been in his early 70s back then. We had just spent over $2000 on Genji for useless tests (from a vet's clinic, a vet who was educating future generations of vets at university, btw, so this explains that...). We described to doctor Foote the symptoms. He had no instruments in his clinic apart from some meds, a microscope, ad a few instruments like that, but no huge medical machinery. Without any tests, he told us if we had changed his food, it sounded like food allergies. Well, FFS, we changed brands and that was the problem! The other one had her head up her ass so much, she just wanted to squeeze every dime we had out of us for absolutely nothing. So now, I don't wonder about the vets' incompetence, it was the way they were trained and told how to face disease. So I do wish I knew a vet from the old school... I'd love to get to the bottom of Lisa's problem.
