The #Dutch #government does the only sensible thing and no longer wants to use a commercial actor like #Twitter. They installed their own #Mastodon #instance on social.overheid.nl . Of course! They have their own e-mail service, it's only logical you have your own micro-blogging/information service as well. 🙌🏼👏🏼

@Maholmire I totally agree. We therefore only have defederated less than a handful of instances. The rest is user suspension or blocks.

@jeff @PaulaToThePeople @seb_tmg Before blocking an instance I browse it's contents to see what the overall theme of the instance is. On the front page of this particular server there were literally only posts containing racist remarks, extremely rude vocabulary and loads and loads of references to child porn. I have a responsibility towards my customers and clients and I want to provide them as much as possible of the fediverse but I draw the line somewhere.

@jeff @PaulaToThePeople @seb_tmg Yes. I find it fascinating how our online behavior shows more of our true human nature than when we meet face to face in public. It's a very good barometer for the current state of society. Our clients are the heroes, making their clients realize every day that there's a way out of this dead end we're currently residing in.

@protonprivacy I agree with some of the other respondents here. From a security perspective you ideally want completely different login credentials for Proton Pass than the rest of the Proton suite. You should even be able to use a different username/email. Call me stupid, but what you've done now doesn't make sense at all.

@stux Fediverse users seem to have little tolerance. I was used to getting daily reports pointing at spam, scams, and harassment. On the fediverse, I'm getting reports about opinions (even with scientific references) that people don't like. Pictures of food and people's faces not having been marked as sensitive. Makes me wonder if these are people living in a place without grocery stores and where everyone is required to wear sunglasses. There must be a more suitable instance for these folks.
