One funny moment from yesterday, when the wife and I were having lunch with the two smoking hot, cool transfems, one of them was like, "you know, I'm poly, and after awhile it turned out [name] was too and...."And my wife squeaked and grabbed my shoulder and was like "WE ARE VERY VERY MONOGAMOUS."I just about died laughing, but very carefully kept it inside.

Afterwards she apologized to me, and I was like "I'm pretty sure there are ace-spectrum people who are poly." and she was like: "Sorry my first thought was just MINE."Still hilarious.

Not gonna lie, every last trans girl I've seen pics of on here is a god-damned babe. Every. Last. One.<Dysphoria whisper, on shoulder> "Except for me!"But I'm now off of work and I'm going to go home, put on my girliest exercise outfit and focus on exercising. Seriously though why are trans people so much more hot then cis people???? I need to join this club.

God, everytime I read something written by a trans woman it's like they wrote it directly at my soul in little crystal needles that head straight for my heart.

@futurebird Yeah, honestly it is shocking how many accounts are bots, and now AI-bots.I've seen memes where people sometimes talk to them as if they are AI and make them spout off poetry; but like, I don't even know if those memes are real, because apparently it doesn't ALWAYS work.Truth and fiction are harder to judge; I remember Hannah Arendt saying that was one of the primary goals of facism.

@futurebird i think he got so much praise for the first one he felt a need to try and repeat the magic. The rest of the Sprawl trilogy was imaginative (I had to read Idoru and Mona Lisa Overdrive in college, but Neuromancer was never required reading) - but not as good as Neuromancer.

So, I'm doing a mutual aid request to help with my gender affirming surgery (my orchi). I've had to double my anticipated hotel stay, and finances for this were already tight as generally speaking I'm on a single income living paycheck to paycheck. It's NOT the end of the world, so don't feel obligated, but it would be nice to not worry about other bills later, or putting things on a card, or rationing what we eat. Mostly, I'm hoping to make up the difference between what I planned for (last night to be my last night here) and the reality: which is I'll be in this hotel at least until Wednesday, assuming the doctor takes out this drainage port then. I don't actually know for sure. And that makes it rather hard to plan. And kind of scary. I got a good deal on the hotel, and the orchi itself is paid for, (I think), so really I'm just hoping for a little bit to make up that gap.Anything is appreciated. I am @secretfire42 on Venmo (Charlotte Eowyn Guyton), and my spouses PayPal is taraamber@gmail.comThank you.

The essence of being transgender is this: I love something enough to tell the entire world to fuck off.

@futurebird As a trans person, I..don't think i've ever heard a cis person (I presume your cis) say Nex Benedict's name, and getting to that point meant something, thank you.

I think, perhaps, it's not too much to demand a world we can live in. “I have love in me the likes of which you can scarcely imagine and rage the likes of which you would not believe. If I cannot satisfy the one, I will indulge the other.” - The Creature, Frankenstein, (1994 version).Happy Trans Day of Rememberance.

So I've been pondering a theory. Christianity is marked by a few things in the modern day. (sorry if your Christian and queer/BIPOC/etc, I know you exist, but otherwise...this is the culture).1. A particular cruelty towards the poor, immigrant and marginalized.2. 'a highway to heaven' - the world is something they endure on their way to becoming lords of the afterlife, essentially3. An almost violent cultural reaction towards duty, stewardship or responsibility. And I think these things are linked. I think the avoidance of death, grief and loss in #2 are what cause #3, and possibly make them prone to #1. Because you can consciously not think about something, but that makes it overwhelm your subconscious. So Christianity, a death cult, becomes obsessed with not thinking about death. And anything that reminds it of that (poverty, famine, disaster, suffering, environmental decay) - becomes a threat. Right, because even environmental decay, in order to confront it you have to face grief. And by avoiding grief, Christianity has refused, for some time now, to ever face its own shadows, wrapping itself in an ever-tighter cloak of arrogance, cruelty and self-righteousness. A lot of our society is built around avoiding death, grief and loss this way. The rich and powerful don't want reminders of it; but this is a key part of life, and without it you can't really be human. You can't avoid grappling with it without consequences. And when you are like this and see queer people, poor people, marginalized people, they remind you of the suffering inherent to life, and are a challenge to your worldview, and because its a death cult that avoids confronting death, that means anything that prods the worldview is an existential threat. Because there's nothing, literally nothing, under evangelical (and increasingly, catholic) christianity but atheism, despair, arrogance and small, unchallenged egos afraid of their own shadow-selves. Pre transition, years ago, I used to quote the sermon on the mount to evangelicals when they'd spout off pro-war or imperialistic things. Never once did I fail to see an ordained minister declaim the bible when confronted in that way. Never once. It was an almost universal response of literalists to being shown their own text "well, the bible isn't the entire faith anyways" and insane instant anger. But at the end of the day, its an avoidance of grief, death suffering and loss. But that's the mystery of life.

Can anyone recommend a good app that's like a dating app but specifically for making friends? I'm trying to find other trans people who want to be friends and hang out because... I'm in the middle of nowhere.
