This bear is attacking me just because I kept poking him with a stick! WHY?!?!"Too many think of cops as individual people, when it's usually helpful to think of them as parts of a machine, a system. They are designed to do a job, and will tend to react in certain ways in certain circumstances. One of those stimulus/response routines is armed stranger fights with me, beat and possibly shoot them. A computer does what it's programmed to do. A cop does what he's programmed to do. Don't get angry at either when you get a result you don't like. The system is just doing what it's programmed to do. Don't pour your drink into your computer, and don't pick a fight with cops.

Go get 'em!" response to those events was a bit more than I expected.

@Bernard Probably hoping to keep the lights on until Trump and company leave and they can turn the money spigot back on. Until then they're probably running on battery backup power. Big money private donors are only going to be able to keep them going for so long. Even Soros mostly relied on getting government money when it came to funding this kind of thing.If that's the case, a sort of monetary war of attrition could help grind them down over time, so long as a Democrat or complaint Republican can be kept out of the White House for a few more election cycles.

@Jonny @Bernard It wasn't "because I'm Jewish". It was "...I'm the child of a Holocaust survivor." He said that, and just left it there for a second. He said nothing else, wasn't ask what he meant by that, and after a while the Congress-critter just went on to his next question. On the surface it seemed a total non sequitur, but everyone really knew what it meant. It meant "you're pissing me off, and if you don't dial it back I'm going to sic the ADL on you." Which is pretty much what happened.
