Today is the 8th anniversary of @Liberapay's launch. Coincidentally, I have an announcement to make.I'm looking for someone to open a new chapter in the project's history by becoming its second maintainer. That doesn't mean it's a programming job, although help in that area is always welcome. You can find a bit more information in https://github.com/liberapay/salon/issues/661 and ask any questions you have there or in private. Please boost 🙂

@collectifission I would add that French nuclear reactors are slowed down a lot more because of insufficient electricity demand than because of heatwaves. They've been outputting significantly less than they could have for more than two months because there isn't enough demand.Source: my own regular observations of https://energygraph.info/d/q7IpAJHVz/overview?orgId=1&refresh=30m and https://app.electricitymaps.com/zone/FR/72h/hourly

@collectifission That downside isn't inherent to the dominance of nuclear power in a grid. It wouldn't exist if there was enough storage capacity (pumped storage, hydrogen, batteries) to absorb the nuclear surplus.

@publius @collectifission That may have been true in the past, but with intermittent renewables on the rise, plus the need to produce large quantities of hydrogen without releasing CO2 into the atmosphere, we should probably be building a lot more storage and power-to-gas capacity nowadays.

@davidrevoy I currently don't see a problem on the Liberapay side: @lazy appears in all three CSV exports. Can you tell me which file you downloaded and when?

@davidrevoy It seems to me that operating systems could and should detect bad memory, but sadly a lot of software is built without fully taking into account the fact that hardware fails.Relevant fact: Linus Torvalds is an advocate of error-correcting memory (https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2021/01/linus-torvalds-blames-intel-for-lack-of-ecc-ram-in-consumer-pcs/) and uses it on his own machine (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfv0V1SxbNA).
