       @blakeus12 @indigenous_commentator A non-vote for Biden is a vote for Trump. A vote for Trump is a vote for genocide and the continued erosion of what's left of democracy in the United States and the continued stealing from the poor to give to the rich. I'll take a shit sandwich over a 6 course diarrhea diner any day of the week.

       I like @protonprivacy, but I feel like this article side-stepped the real issue: Courts can ask them to provide data. It's great that they use encryption, store no logs (hope they don't ever make a mistake and accidentally log data they shouldn't) and their keys are stored off-site, but the threat model described above still applies: There exists data that can be recovered. Whether the data is useful or not is a different discussion. http://web.archive.org/web/20240726151033/https://protonvpn.com/blog/ram-only-servers#Privacy #VPN #Proton #Security

       No faith/imagination needed. Signal's code is still open source and auditable. Signal still encrypts everything before leaving your device, supports sealed sender, uses remote attestation to verify the server isn't tampered, lets you verify safety numbers, uses ORAM to defend against server-side data leaks and secure enclaves to protect data. Put simply: Signal cannot use the anti-spam component for nefarious purposes without changing the code that's already public and auditable.

       @hetzner could you verify the domain in your profile? Would go a long way towards proving its not some random person.

       While it's true individual admins have moderation power, the Fediverse's strength lies in user choice. You select instances aligning with your values and moderation preferences. If dissatisfied, you can move to another instance, unlike centralized platforms. This distributed model fosters diverse communities and empowers users with greater control over their online experience. This brings us back to the "old web" ethos, where niche communities not only existed but thrived.

       @ozzelot @zekjur It's metadata leaking version of Signal messenger that doesn't properly secure group chats: https://arstechnica.com/security/2025/05/whatsapp-provides-no-cryptographic-management-for-group-messages/#Whatsapp #Signal #Privacy #InfoSec
