@ZachWeinersmith I suspect mediums play a role: chinese are writing philosophy & poetry on fabrics and paper, Romans are carving edicts in stone...What samples of Roman handwriting I've seen are pretty different, it usually looks more like they are trying to cram as much into the available space as possible, "crabbed" doesn't even begin to describe it.They missed out on the whole McLuhan "the medium is the message" thing I guess.

@ZachWeinersmithWell eating sheep-butt is just a fringe-benefit-- when the animal concentrates all the fat in the tail, the meat is a fair bit leaner, and thus in the case of mutton, a good deal milder. The difference in flavour between European sheep (bred for wool) and middleastern fat-tail sheep (bred for eating) is very noticeable. There is a reason that many folks have an aversion to mutton; if all you've tasted is mutton from wool-sheep, you aren't wrong to avoid it...

@ZachWeinersmith Wild strawberries. NOT the nasty tasteless gigantic over/inbred monstrosities you find the stores these days. Real ones, ideally wild. And actual fully ripened on the tree mangos, as above.

@ZachWeinersmith Thanks a lot for putting those horrible horrible words into my head so I would involuntarily try and sound them out.
