       @EmmaKelley Yep. I have a working 1988 NEC Ultralight (or was it Ultralite), DOS laptop the size of a current MacBook, that got by with 2 MB of "silicon hard disk," Wordstar and Lotus 1 2 3 on a ROM cards.

       @jeff It could also use a Grassroots student movement objecting to  organized University PR/marketing support of Twitter. I checked a local State University and saw something like 300 separate accounts for colleges, academic departments, research institutes, dean's offices, sports teams, coaches, etc...  Schoold use Twitter to court applicants, congratulate students when  accepted, promote events.  etc. Alternatively: Great opportunity for local fediverse instances! Any schools doing that?

       @zleap @jeff Catch 22 meets chicken & egg for journalism organizations too. Short of people and funds, should they commit time & money to an instance  admin when readers aren't there yet, and when staff journalists actually may not be that interested in conversation with readers, just in their traditional broadcast model of mass communication. So newspapers hire a separate "get us clicks" social media editor, but they may not have enough engagement with the journalists or readers.
