@brettm I remember Hewlett-Packard in Corvallis and Boise, neither of which were particularly close, had to shut down because the air filters could not handle the ash.

@ewen Yes to all of your thoughts.My own motivations for posting:1. Social connections. Mastodon is a gathering, a circle of friends, an intersection of like-minded people, a giant cocktail party really. Posts are conversations of things we've seen and done. Bits of our lives. Chit-chat.2. Chuckles. Fun. I'm easily amused and I like to be silly, rant, tease, curse, and snark. I don't have to be buttoned down here. Mastodon is not an art gallery and I'm not here to sell myself or anything.3. Growth. Here I get to see how other people express themselves, with photos that reach way outside my range of experience and skills. I learn from my attempts to do what other people do... and from people's reactions to what I post. Honestly, my photos are a scattered mess, with an occasional something approaching art. But here I get to take excursions down 100 different paths and go off in 1000 different crazy directions and nobody minds the splattered paint on the walls. This is a safe place to share and explore.
